A più di mezzo secolo dalla sua uscita, Queen I resta un capitolo fondamentale nella storia della band. Il restauro dell’audio è opera di Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J Macrae e Kris Fredriksson.
Una nuova tracklist, take alternativi, demo e tracce live sono stati aggiunti per completare questo (capo)lavoro fondamentale della carriera di Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor e John Deacon.
Il cofanetto Queen I è composto da 6 CD + 1 LP, contiene 63 brani con 43 nuovi mix. Comprende l'album originale nel suo ordine di esecuzione originario, le ‘intime’ registrazioni dei Queen in studio, demo, rare tracce live, esibizioni delle BBC session e registrazioni inedite della prima esibizione live dei Queen a Londra dell'agosto del 1970. È inclusa anche la prima uscita ufficiale di "Hangman", la composizione dei Queen che è stata un pilastro dei loro primi spettacoli ma che non è mai stata registrata in studio.
Esclusa dalla pubblicazione del 1973, la canzone "Mad the Swine" è stata rimessa al suo posto nell'ordine di esecuzione originario.
